Despite lacking a star-studded cast or a sequel, Nepali film ‘Boksi Ko Ghar’ made a promising debut at the domestic box office upon its release on Friday. Drawing in large crowds, with many screenings sold out, the film boasted nearly 200 shows across the country on its first day. Audience turnout was impressive, with morning shows seeing 40% occupancy and afternoon and evening shows peaking at 70-75%.
The film’s success can be attributed in part to its hit song ‘Buzheen Male’, which has garnered over 92 million views on YouTube. Audiences were drawn to theaters by the song’s popularity, even dancing along when the film team visited a theater in Sundhara to gather feedback.
Responding to the overwhelming demand, major multiplex chains like QFX have increased the number of screenings for Saturday, anticipating even higher business. Actress and producer Kiki Adhikari, who visited theaters in Kathmandu to gauge audience reactions, expressed delight at the enthusiastic support the film received.
Directed by Sulakshan Bharti, ‘Boksi Ko Ghar’ stars Keki Adhikari alongside a talented ensemble cast including Supla Sapkota, Shwechha Raut, and Rama Thapaliya. Praised for its storytelling and performances, the film’s success marks a triumph for its creators despite initial apprehensions about its unconventional narrative.
