The recent episode of “The Great Indian Kapil Show” has sparked much discussion, all thanks to Aamir Khan. In the show, Aamir opened up about his personal life and struggles, including his decision to turn down the film “The Legend of Bhagat Singh” back in 2002. The role eventually went to Ajay Devgan, who received critical acclaim and a National Award for his performance.
Initially, director Rajkumar Santoshi had approached Aamir for the role, but Aamir declined, citing his age of 37 at the time. He believed that a younger actor would be more suitable for the part. Aamir explained that portraying a historical figure like Bhagat Singh, who achieved remarkable feats in his 20s, required someone closer in age to the character.
Reflecting on Bhagat Singh’s fearless spirit and the significance of his actions, Aamir expressed his concern about not being able to do justice to the role at his age. He emphasized the importance of authenticity in portraying such a pivotal figure in Indian history and felt that casting a younger actor would better capture the essence of Bhagat Singh’s character.
